Oracle (novel, in planning)
A long novel in planning — half-realistic, half-alternate-history. Ancient setting, modern questions. On civilizational encounter and misreading, the fragility of freedom, the political consequences of awakening, and a "tianxia" that has not yet arrived. Living frameworks in Chinese; not even a first draft.
A long novel I’m planning — not a draft yet, only a living framework. Working title 《神谕》 (Oracle); candidate series umbrella 《空和平》/《长停战》 (The Hollow Peace / The Long Armistice).
Four mother themes: tianxia as political possibility, the internal complexity of the freedom–tyranny opposition, the political consequences of awakening, and technology / oracle forcing humanity to reconsider its condition. The setting changes between versions; the themes don’t.
Versions and supporting materials below, newest first. All in Chinese.
v1 · 古代晚期的过渡地带
2026.05.12
A reframing of the novel around the real history of late antiquity. The setting moves from v0’s invented bipolar world to the actual Byzantium–Sasanian confrontation of the early 7th century. Story opens 601 CE in Edessa — ten years after the inconclusive peace of 591, thirty years before the Arab eruption no one can foresee. Anchors all four mother themes in real institutions, persons, and texts of the period. Includes a reading list and a sketch of the opening scene.
A small, no-name protagonist replaces the multi-POV structure of v0. The “archive as form” idea from v0 is preserved.
v0 · 框架草图
2026.05.11
First structural sketch. Semi-realist, semi-alternate-history. Two civilizational blocs (Greater Hellas, Greater Persia / Heavenly Courts), a hollow peace, an oracular network growing synchronized, an awakening movement no polity can absorb. World map, factions, four-POV structure, ten-year roadmap. The conceptual root before historical anchoring.
Future versions (v2, v3, …) and supporting materials — character notes, scene drafts, research excerpts — will be added here as the project develops.
